AFTER JOHOR, MALACCA NEXT TO DUMP NAJIB: Ultras & racists not welcome, says CM
MALACCA - Ultras and racists are not welcome in Malacca, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron.
Idris said that he "is firm believer of a racial diversity and will never allow Malacca to be a breeding ground for racists and ultras."
"Our country is known for its cultural and ethnic diversities for the past 58 years...we will not tolerate any extremism in Malacca.
"This not only my stance but also of Governor Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob to continue living as united Malaccans," he said during an interview with The Star on Sunday at his official residence in Seri Bendahara in Ayer Keroh.
Idris said Mohd Khalil is an ambassador of peace and harmony who has the history of the nation at his finger tips.
"Tun (Mohd Khalil) could delve indepth in the history of our long diversity especially in the context of our maritime relationship between Malacca and China.
"The objective of the state government is to continue flourishing this long-time unity in the state. We won’t allow any party to derail this," he said.
Idris also quoted a verse from the Al-Quran that reminded mankind on the existence of various ethnicities and the importance of forging close ties with the non-Muslim communities.

"In a nutshell, Malacca is against any form of bigotry. We want the locals to grab the opportunities once Guangdong Province of China ventures into the state instead of wasting time arguing about trivial issues," he said.
Idris said a series of Memorandum of Understanding (M.o.U) signed between Guangdong and Malacca is anticipated to create a RM40bil spin-off in foreign direct investments.
"We have three pronged development plans with Guangdong and the first few major investments are expected to create a multitude of business opportunities and employment for the locals," he added. - ANN
