FAEKAH & GANG HAVE TO RETURN THE MONEY: Ex MB's generous 'compensation' being mediated
SHAH ALAM - The Mentri Besar Incorporated (MBI) and eight former staff are now scrutinising several conditions on the issue of returning the compensation of RM2.6 million which was now being resolved through the mediation process.
Subsequently, the mediation process being carried out at the Mediation Centre of the Shah Alam Court today was postponed and would be resumed on Oct 23 to enable both parties to first study the terms proposed by both parties.
Lawyer Edmund Bon, representing seven of the eight former MBI staff, said both parties had submitted their terms concerning the claim. However, he said, the terms submitted could not be revealed and discussed in public.
"Today, both parties have submitted their conditions to enable the scrutiny to be made before agreement is reached.
"The mediation process is being carried out before Senior Assistant Registrar Wan Azira Wan Khairilanwar," said Edmund when approached by reporters, here.
On July 28, the High Court Judge here, Hadhariah Syed Ismail had proposed that both parties resolved the issue on the return of the compensation through a mediation process.
The eight former executives involved in the compensation issue were former MBI chief executive officer, Faekah Hussin; Rohani Talib, Arfa'eza Abdul Aziz, Mustapha Mohd Talib, Rahimah Kamarudin, Dr Sulaiman Masri, Abdul Halim Mohamed Yusof and Tuan Nazuri Tuan Ismail.
On Jan 16, Selangor Mentri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali directed all eight former executives to return the compensation received during the administration of former mentri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim because it was claimed that there were several breaches of financial procedures and regulations.
The former executives were also reported to have received compensation of between RM114,870 and RM699,000 each previously.
On May 11, MBI filed a summons on the eight former executives for allegedly failing to return the compensation paid. – Bernama
