PETALING JAYA: Raub MP Mohd Ariff Sabri Abdul Aziz has accused Prime Minister Najib Razak of hypocrisy and phoniness in his reactions to yesterday’s rally of Malay groups in Kuala Lumpur.
In his latest blog posting, Ariff also asserts with bold confidence that the Prime Minister himself was the prime mover of the rally.
“Let all Malaysians know what a bloody hypocrite Najib is,” he says. “You can be sure he staged the whole thing,” and then “had the gall to behave sanctimoniously to say he is shocked to see the gathering took place peacefully.
“Then why the demand to see a report on the Petaling Street incident? Then why fire water cannons?”
Elsewhere in the article, Ariff repeats the allegation about Najib’s role in the demonstration. He writes: “He is definitely behind the march of the Red Shirts. He uses the march to divert attention from his own misconduct.”
He alleges that many of the rally participants were there only for the handouts. “The gathering included the vagabonds and the city’s homeless and destitute herded by promoters of the Himpunan with the promise of money, T-shirts and food just to walk around Padang Merbok. Just to show the number.”
Organisers of the rally have claimed that 200,000 people participated in it, but Ariff uses the figure “20,000.” It’s not clear whether he has made a typographical error or is mocking the claim.
He writes: “Najib must be extremely worried to see the level of support he has. If there were 20,000 indeed, then 20,000 have brought shame to the Malays. That would mean that the Malays support Najib’s misconduct and machinations.
“It only goes to show that some fools are willing to excuse Najib for the wrongs he did.”
