The API reading for Petaling Jaya (Selangor) and Batu Muda had escalated to 102 as at 1pm. The readings at 4pm, showed the API at an even higher level with Petaling Jaya registering 103 and Batu Muda at 105.
According to the Department of Environment (DOE), the number of areas with unhealthy API in Johor dropped to three compared with four areas at 9am this morning.
The reading for Kota Tinggi, which recorded an API of 101 this morning, fell to 98 (moderate) while Pasir Gudang, Larkin Lama and Muar were still at unhealthy levels at 123, 113 and 116 respectively.
Meanwhile Bukit Rambai in Melaka recorded the country's highest API at 146 followed by Port Dickson (142) and Melaka City (136) while Balok Baru in Kuantan and Banting in Selangor have identical API reading at 132.
Apart from that, other areas with unhealthy API readings are Kemaman at 123, Nilai (121), Seremban (118), Port Klang (109), while Shah Alam, Paka in Terengganu and Putrajaya have identical readings at 112.
An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and above 300, hazardous. Members of the public can refer to the DoE portal for the latest API reading. – Bernama
