Regency Council neutral on Kedah political crisis

Council advises parties involved to resolve the current political crisis by themselves and leave the public out of the mess.
Datuk-Paduka-Syed-Unan-Mashri-Syed-Abdullah,jemaahALOR SETAR: The Kedah Council of Regency said today it was taking a non-partisan stance in the ongoing political crisis in the state and advised the parties involved to resolve the matter themselves.
The council also advised the parties concerned to use existing channels to resolve any dissatisfaction or problem, said Comptroller of the Kedah Royal Household/Principal Private Secretary to the Sultan of Kedah, Syed Unan Mashri Syed Abdullah.
He said in a statement that the council advised the parties involved to find a solution prudently and not involve the people who, at this time, needed attention and leadership from all the leaders.
“The members of the Kedah Council of Regency have taken note of the news on the ongoing political unrest in Kedah. The Council of Regency emphasises that the members are neutral [in the matter] and are refraining from supporting or favouring any faction or side,” he said.
Syed Unan Mashri said the council wanted all quarters to maintain calm and patience in facing the political crisis.
The crisis erupted on January 20 after several Kedah leaders openly expressed no confidence in the leadership of Mukhriz Mahathir as the menteri besar and chairman of the Kedah Umno Liaison Committee.
