July 28, Guardian published ‘1MDB: inside story of world’s biggest financial scandal’, included audio link to taped conversation.
taped conversation between Justo's wife Laura and PetroSaudi’s business affairs director Patrick Mahony revealed immense information on 1MDB scandal which was not revealed before.
Mahony spoke in French with Laura in November 2015.
He refers to a powerful person who could help reduce Justo’s sentence.
“I told you the other evening, who the ultimate person is controlling this, and I am due to have another meeting with him soon… This guy is still stressed because it’s his political career on the line. He’s in deep shit and that’s all he cares about, nothing else.”
Mahony says: “You are ready to denounce all the people who are conspiring against him (the politician) …You can help the situation or you cannot help the situation.”
terrified and angry Mahony snaps when Laura pressed for Justo’s release.

My comments : The Royal Pardon is a reduction of the jail sentence by one third. Justo will be released in 2017. My view is he will be released even earlier.
It is obvious that the Thais government feels really stupid that they too have been manipulated by this 1MDB related scandals. Whoever was touched by this scandal has either been tainted or suffered some kind of loss.
It is really astonishing that todate ALL the major crooks involved in this scandal are still Scot free and enjoying their ill gotten gains. But they better count their days.
The US, Singapore, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Luxembourg and other countries are not moving fast enough. I believe there is only one big reason - the huge political fallout.
The US under the Obama Administration has also been tainted by this scandal. For most certainly Obama (through his Democrat friends) has benefited from some of this stolen money as well. Remember this black guy here? His name is Frank White.
Frank White is Obama's No. 1 fund raiser. This is the guy who was instrumental in bringing Obama to Malaysia TWICE in two years.
Prior to this, the only other US president to visit Malaysia was Lyndon Johnson in 1968. Not only did Obama come here twice but he stayed in KL a record FOUR DAYS - quite unheard of for any US President to spend that many days in any foreign country.
What exactly did the US get from Obama's TWO visits in two years to a Third World country? Not much.
The bigger question is what did Obama get from his TWO visits in two years to a Third World country? Getting paid with stolen money (for campaign contributions) is one thing but seeing an innocent fellow (Xavier Justo) getting thrown into jail for whistleblowing on a crime is quite something else.
The recent expose by Britain's Guardian newspaper on the unfair and unjust treatment meted out to Xavier Justo in Thailand has certainly caused severe embarrassment not just for the Thais but also to the United States. Obviousy that is the reason for the Royal pardon for Xavier Justo.
In the United States, instead of being jailed a person like Xavier Justo would have immediately been protected by the FBI's Witness Protection program. It is still not too late.
His wife must know that Xavier Justo's life could be in danger. This is a very unfortunate situation but n'theles it must be anticipated. The Thais must be reminded to take extra precautions over Justo's safety while inside jail, especially now that his jail term has been reduced by the Thai King.
It is also embarrassing for the US because most certainly some of the characters named in the FBI's recent Court filing plus the criminal prosecution that will follow (plus also the prosecutions in Singapore, Switzerland, Luxembourg etc) will turn 'whistleblowers' or State witnesses. In other words they will squeal.
It has been suggested that Jho Low himself may turn prosecution witness in exchange for immunity or a much lighter jail term plus immunity for his father and / or brother. Jasmine Loo Ai Swan, Casey Tang and Eric Tan will certainly be exploring how to cooperate with the prosecution in exchange for lighter sentences or immunity. Because most certainly they are NOT the main players in this scandal. They are just the clerical staff and the office peons who were swayed by easy money.
If all these folks can cut a deal with prosecutors (in at least six countries), where then is the justice in jailing Justo who spilled the beans on this greatest financial scandal in world history in the first place?
This is why I think Xavier Justo has been partially pardoned and will most likely be released from prison in shorter time. But he will be a marked man living on that island in Thailand.
This scandal is far reaching and getting more dangerous. With the amounts of money they have stolen and which they have to keep hidden, these crooks will be tempted to commit all sorts of other crimes to cover their tracks. - http://syedsoutsidethebox.blogspot.my/
