KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 — A local fast food chain’s decision to name its pork burger “P Ramly”, which has attracted criticism “is not an issue”, Umno’s veteran Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Tengku Hamzah said today.
“For me, it is not an issue at all,” Tengku Razaleigh told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
However, he said that the timing of the issue could have caused it to be caught up in a controversy.
“Now we have all kind of controversies and misunderstanding. There is a wrong understanding as though hot dog literally refers to a dog. It is not an issue, but the timing (that) is making this a controversy,” he added.
Tengku Razaleigh, known popularly as Ku Li, also said that non-halal eatery Ninja Joe might had wanted to “pay tribute” to a popular figure by naming the burger as such.
“It’s all about the intention, whether it is being done to insult someone or not,” he said.
