(MMO) – All Selangor state assemblymen will receive an annual allocation of RM800,000 from the state government, regardless of party affiliations.
This was announced by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali when tabling Selangor’s Budget 2017 today.
“For the 2017 Budget, I would like to suggest that the allocation of state assemblymen be increased to RM800,000 a year,” Azmin said.
He also said the state government would maintain its annual allocation of RM300,000 a year for all Selangor federal lawmakers.
The Selangor state government has recorded an RM351.38 million surplus in the state’s finances as at October 14 this year.
Azmin had tabled a deficit of RM630 million for Budget 2016 in October last year.
The state’s reserves also rose to RM3.62 billion as at October 14 this year from RM3.26 billion last December 31.
Azmin announced an RM3.45 billion state budget for next year, 52.2 per cent (RM1.8 billion) of which was allocated for development expenditure and 47.8 per cent (RM1.65 billion) for operating expenditure.
Selangor’s Budget 2017 is expected to have a deficit of RM900 million.
Under the budget for operating expenditure, RM427.9 million was allocated for emoluments and RM543.16 million for supplies and services. A total of RM18.34 million was allocated for the purchase of assets, RM608.11 million for fixed payments and RM52.49 million for other expenses.
