The widow of the late Sarawak chief minister Adenan Satem, Jamilah Anu, was announced as the BN's candidate for the upcoming Tanjong Datu by-election.
Her candidacy was announced by Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg in Kuching today.
The 62-year-old mother of two has been an active member of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), and had assisted Adenan when he served as assemblyperson of Tanjong Datu, and Muara Tuan before that.
The Tanjong Datu seat became vacant when Adenan passed away earlier this month.
The Election Commission has set nomination day for Feb 4, with polling taking place on Feb 18.
