Immigration chief meets embassy officials on E-Card

Immigration director-general Mustafar Ali says main objective of the meeting is to get the support of embassies for the E-Card programme.

PUTRAJAYA: Embassy staff from 13 source countries were today given a briefing on the implementation of the temporary Enforcement Card (E-Card) for illegal immigrants in a meeting with the immigration department here.
The meeting, which was chaired by the department’s director-general Mustafar Ali was attended by 28 embassy representatives from Bangladesh, Turkmenistan, Myanmar, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam.
In a statement issued today, Mustafar said the main objective of the meeting was to obtain support for the E-Card programme from the various embassies.
“The immigration department hopes the embassies can assist in issuing passports to their citizens involved in the E-Card programme,” he added. -FMT
