Man goes on the run after court reverses previous discharge order, requiring him to stand trial for the death of bank manager in Sibu.

KUALA LUMPUR: The family of slain Sarawakian bank manager Wong Jing Kui is offering a RM50,000 reward to the public to locate the man accused of his murder, Tiong King Guan.
The deceased’s sister, Wong Hie Huong, said they are pleading for the public to trace Tiong, who has been missing since February 2015.
“We want him to come forward because he is believed to be involved in my younger brother’s death, along with my sister-in-law,” she said in a press conference here with Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng.
Jing Kui, a HSBC bank manager, was murdered at his Sibu home on June 14, 2012.
Subsequently, three people were arrested – Ling Hang Tsyr (Jing Kui’s wife), Ling Hoe Ing and Tiong.
Hoe Ing was charged with murdering Jing Kui while Hang Tsyr and Tiong were charged with abetting the murder.
However, Hoe Ing pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter after sending a letter of representation to the prosecution.
The Sibu High Court later gave Hang Tsyr and Tiong a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) for their charge of abetting to murder.
The prosecution then filed an appeal against the High Court’s decision to grant a DNAA to the duo.
The Court of Appeal on Feb 10, 2015 allowed the appeal and restored the charge of abetting to murder on the two.
However, Tiong failed to turn up in court, resulting in an arrest warrant being issued against him.
The trial of Hang Tsyr is currently ongoing in the Sibu High Court.
Jing Kui’s mother, Lau Boh Ing, told reporters that she hoped the fugitive could be brought to justice.
“This case has been prolonged for almost five years.
“Everyday, I feel sad thinking of what happened to my son and why he ended up being killed,” the emotional 69-year-old woman said.
She pleaded for the public to help the family look for Tiong.
“Whoever commits a crime, they should pay for their actions,” Lau said. --FMT
