If I am not able to upload your comments or update the Blog it is because we are still on our annual holiday. Will do so as soon as I get the opportunity.
I received this from someone last Saturday (and programmed it on the same day). Thank you. My comments at the end.
Salam Tuan Syed,
Salam Tuan Syed,
I am sharing with you an interesting post by someone from FB:
HAFAL AL-QURAN DAN SIA-SIAKAN ASET UMAT
-Zolkharnain Abidin Al-Abyadhi
1. Malam tadi berbual dgn seorang anak berusia 11 tahun. Dia sudah hafal 9 juz. Saya test sikit, ok saja dia sambung. Seorang lagi rakannya berusia 13 thn, hafal 20 juz, asyik sekali main HP. Saya tanya anak yg 11 tahun tadi, apabila besar nak jadi apa? Dia jawab, nak jadi ustaz. Saya tanya, kenapa? Dia diam saja.
3. Perkembangan ini bagus. Cuma saya masih ralat dgn satu isu iaitu, selepas habis hafal al-Quran, kemana anak-anak itu akan sambung belajar? Soalan ini relevan kerana, banyak sekali pusat hafal al-Quran hanya tawarkan hafal al-Quran saja. Setelah tamat, terkontang-kantinglah anak itu menempuh masa depan yg tak keruan kerana tiada apa-apa kebolehan lain, kecuali hafal al-Quran.
10. Saya simpati dgn ribuan anak-anak yg terbunuh potensi mereka di pusat-pusat hafal al-Quran yg wujud, sedih kerana negara dan umat kehilangan aset bernilai, padahal semua itu boleh dielak. Bagaimana caranya?
iv. Berikan dahulu pendidikan asas dlm bidang sains, matematik, bahasa dan seni sebelum anak masuk ke bidang tahfiz. Seelok-eloknya mereka masuk ke bidang tahfiz selepas tamat sekolah rendah.
11. Bidang hafal al-Quran bukanlah bidang yg sangat sukar, kerana ia hanya memerlukan fokus yg lebih saja. Jadi, usahlah korbankan masa depan mereka utk melihat mereka menjadi hafiz pada usia muda, sehingga mereka terlepas bidang pengajian yg lain yg terikat dgn faktor usia, kerana hafal al-Quran boleh diteruskan pada mana-mana usia saja.
My comments : Terima kasih sdra Zolkharnain Abidin Al-Abyadhi.
It takes a very long time to memorise the arabic Quran.
In the meantime, the non Muslim kids will be spending the same amount of time or more learning other things that are more practical and useful in their daily lives.
Then when they grow up the Muslim kids will end up working for the non Muslim kids. Just like now.

Some people believe (because other Muslims may not believe the same) that if their children can memorise the arabic Quran, then the parents' place in heaven is assured.
If I am mistaken about this please feel free to say so. The children have to become 'parrot like reciters' just to ensure their parents' place in heaven.
Boy are they in for a really giant surprise. As I said before, I have inside information. I dont memorise the arabic Quran but I read to understand the Quran.

Here is an interesting verse from the Quran, this is the Arabic transliteration :
Surah 4:43 Ya ayyuhal-latheena aamanoo laa taqraboo al-salaata wa'antum sukara hatta ta'lamoo ma ta'qooloona
If you ask these parrot like memorisers of the Quran to recite the above verse in Arabic they will do so in double quick time. Like machine guns.
Then if you ask them "But what does it mean?"
Can you tell us what it means?
They will stare at you blankly.
They are memorisers.
They are not people who understand what they have memorised.
Can you tell us what it means?
They will stare at you blankly.
They are memorisers.
They are not people who understand what they have memorised.
Here is the meaning of this verse (actually only the first portion.)
Surah 4:43 O you who believe, do not observe the salat while intoxicated, so that you know what you are saying . . .
Ya ayyuhallazeena aamanu - O you who believe
laa taqraboo - do not come near
al salaata - the salat
wa'antum - while you are
sukkaraa - intoxicated / mind befogged / drunk / confused
sukkaraa - intoxicated / mind befogged / drunk / confused
hatta - until
ta'lamoo - you understand
maa - what
ta' quloon - you say
Do not approach your salat (which is an obligation) in a confused, drunken or befogged state of mind.
Why is that so? Because you must understand what you say.
Why is that so? Because you must understand what you say.
If you are drunk, intoxicated, confused or your mind is befogged then you may not be in the best position to speak coherently, speak logically or speak clearly.
In short folks, it is very important that we remain calm, sober and rational so that we may understand what we are saying. This is an obligation. It is important to know what we are saying.
Then what about the Quran memorisers who can memorise the whole Quran in arabic but do not understand a word of what they have memorised?
How are they not different from people who are befogged or confused who do not know what they are saying?
It is just like parrots reciting what they have been trained to repeat.
The Quran is a thinking book.
It is meant to teach people how to think critically.
It is not a book that is meant for parrots.
If you want to hear the recitation then just buy an RM10 CD or download the Quran for free from the Internet.
To close, here is the magical voice of the Qari Youssef Edghouch reciting Surah Fatihah and Surah Al Rahman (Surah 55) :
