GE14 | Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) has pledged to win all six parliamentary seats allocated to it in the upcoming 14th general election.
President James Jemut Masing expressed his thanks to BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak and state chairperson Abang Johari Abang Openg for allowing the party to contest in six parliamentary constituencies.
“I want to thank the caretaker prime minister Najib and Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari for having the trust in me and the PRS by accepting all our nominated candidates to contest in GE14.
“Hence, we take the initiative to deliver all the six allocated seats to BN.
“The ball is at our feet, so we need to deliver all the six seats to the caretaker prime minister and chief minister,” he said in a statement today.
Abang Johari announced the full list of 31 candidates for the state yesterday.
Belaun’s sacking was widely seen as a preemptive move to prevent him from contesting in the polls, despite winning the seat by a sizeable majority in the last polls.
Amid this infighting, Sarawak PKR announced today that its chief, incumbent Ba'Kelalanassemblyperson Baru Bian, will contest the parliamentary seat.
Traditionally, PRS is allocated six parliamentary seats in the general election. The six for this round are Masir Kujat for Sri Aman, Joseph Salang for Julau, Wilson Ugak Kumbong for Hulu Rajang and Aaron Ago Dagang for Kanowit.
Besides Insol, another newcomer, Robert Pasang Alam also joins the fray. He will contest in Lubok Antu.
Meanwhile, Abang Johari expressed his confidence that BN will prevail in the coming polls.
“We are confident that BN will win in the coming general election. It will prevail and we are confident about that,” he said after presenting authorisation letters to BN candidates at the PBB headquarters in Kuching today.
