Time to end one-party dominance: Ex-CM Tsu Koon tells Penangites

GE14 | Former Penang chief minister Koh Tsu Koon turned into a BN campaigner today as he joined its Bukit Bendera candidate on the GE14 campaign trail, which enters its fourth day today.
Koh, who held the Tanjong Bunga seat for four terms, was warmly welcomed by traders and market-goers as he accompanied candidate Teng Chang Yeow during a walkabout at the Mount Erskine wet market.
Many recognised Koh - who held the CM's post for 10 years - and stopped to have a short chat with him.
The BN team then bumped into the Pakatan Harapan team led by their candidates Zairil Khir Johari (Tanjong Bunga ) and Jason Ong (Kebun Bunga) who visited the same market.
The candidates, who form opposing sides, took the opportunity to shake hands and chat.
Koh said he was happy with the reception they received.
"We are surprised with the warm reception from the public, it is over our expectations," he said.
"I appealed to them to support checks and balances as there are a lot of issues that need to be addressed in Tanjong Bunga.
"I'm very impressed with our manifesto. Teng used to be my political secretary and state executive councillor and has vast experience. He is the most suitable person to lead. "
"A lot of people also think there is a need to stop one party's dominance. Democracy should allow check and balance," added Koh.
Asked about Pulau Tikus candidate Jason Loo being an "outsider", Koh asked critics to look in the mirror.

He pointed out that it was DAP leader Lim Kit Siang who kept switching seats.
"What are they talking about? This is not an issue as we always fielded someone from Penang or was rooted in Penang for a period of time. Not casually send someone from other places.
"It is DAP who likes to hop like a frog. We may lose out in jumping, but we can challenge them in working," Koh quipped. - Mkini
