PARLIAMENT | The special committee which was set up to gather views on recognising the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) will complete its findings next year, Education Minister Maszlee Malek said.
"On the time frame, the (special) committee will submit its report to us in 2019 and we will present it to the cabinet for a decision," he said during the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat today.
He was asked by former education minister Mahdzir Khalid (BN-Padang Terap) if the government needed four years to recognise the UEC which the Pakatan Harapan government pledged to accept in its manifesto.
"This is the quality of BN parliamentarians because they only read the headline instead of the content (of the news)," said Maszlee.
Earlier, Maszlee said the special committee comprised the United Chinese School Committees Association (Dong Zong) deputy president Tan Yew Sing, historian Khoo Kay Kim's son Eddin Khoo and Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (Abim) president Mohamad Raimi Ab Rahim.
