Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has dismissed the need to emulate Singapore in reducing gas prices.
“We are already selling at a subsidised price. It is very good and (the subsidies are) more than what is given in the big oil-producing countries.
“What more do you want?” he asked during a press conference in Putrajaya today.
He was responding to a question which pointed out that Singapore had lowered gas prices due to the drop in global liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices.
“Singapore has reduced the price? Then buy in Singapore,” added the premier.
It was previously reported that Asian LNG prices have dropped to a three-year low.
The price was at US$4.65 per million British thermal units (mmBtu) on March 21.
This is the lowest since the week of April 15, 2016, when it was at $4, the lowest ever for data going back to 2010. - Mkini
