THE BUILDING IN HONG KONG NAJIB TRIED TO SECRETLY SELL FOR RM1.1 BILLION – PAKATAN GETS OFFER AT RM1.68 BILLION: WAS NAJIB TRYING TO POCKET THE DIFFERENCE? DISGRACED EX-PM NOW SINGS NEW TUNE – ‘WAIT TILL PRICE APPRECIATES’

The Finance Ministry is seeking real estate agents to dispose of a building in Hong Kong which the government bought almost 40 years ago, which the previous administration had tried to sell prior to the 2018 elections.
According to a request for proposal (RFP) dated June 25, all prospective agents must be registered with the Hong Kong Estate Agents Authority.
A briefing will be held on July 1 while the RFP submission will close at noon on July 9.
In March, former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak had, on social media, commented on news reports on the likely sale of the Malaysia Building in Hong Kong.
He later told the press that he was not in favour of selling the building until it appreciates in value.
Following this, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng told Parliament that the Najib government had in fact tried to sell the building for RM1.1 billion outside the open market.
The transaction was supposed to involve a Kuala Lumpur-based company but the deal was scuttled by the Pakatan Harapan government.
Lim also claimed a prospective buyer had offered the present government RM1.68 billion for the building but he wanted even better offers.
Malaysia Building is a 26-story high-rise building located in the Wan Chai area close the Hong Kong’s main business district.
The building was bought by the federal government in 1980 for HK$212 million (RM112 million) and it houses Malaysian government agencies and the Malaysian consular-general.
