Youth arrested for hurling vulgarities at cop

IPOH: An 18-year-old youth may have to spend Hari Raya inside a police lock-up in Taiping after he hurled vulgarities at a traffic policeman.

Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Osman Mamat said the accused had beat some traffic lights at Jalan Pasar Taiping at about 12.30pm on Tuesday (June 4).

ACP Osman said as the policeman approached the accused to issue summons for the offence, the accused used an abusive word.

"It was clearly heard by two other traffic policemen who were on duty manning traffic at the area.

"The accused, a bazaar trader from Taiping, was immediately arrested and brought back to the Taiping police headquarters," he added.

The case is investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in discharge of his public functions.- Star
