Covid-19: One new local infection, 10 others imported

Malaysiakini

COVID-19 | There were 11 new Covid-19 cases reported in the last 24 hours up to noon today, of which only one was a locally acquired infection while the rest were imported cases.
The one local transmission involved a Malaysian, whose case was discovered during a pre-operation screening at the Sarawak General Hospital.
Of the 10 imported cases, eight were of those returning from India, one from Indonesia and one more from Qatar.
Eight of the imported cases were detected in Kuala Lumpur while another two were found in Selangor.
No new deaths were reported for the 31st consecutive day, which means the death toll stays at 125.
Meanwhile, eight people are being treated in intensive care units (ICUs), with six requiring a ventilator. The figure is unchanged from yesterday.
Eight patients recovered today, bringing total active cases to 154.
On a related matter, active case detection and close contact detection are being carried out at the Terendak military camp in Malacca, where three cases of Covid-19 were recently detected.
“As of Aug 29, there have been 109 people identified as close contacts of the positive cases.
“They have been screened and are still awaiting the results of the Covid-19 test.
“Close contact and field activity are still being carried out,” said Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement today.
He reminded the public to remain cautious and comply with standard operating procedures. - Mkini
