Guan Eng to face two more charges on Monday

Malaysiakini

Former finance minister Lim Guan Eng is expected to face two more charges of criminal misappropriation of property at the Butterworth Sessions Court on Monday next week concerning the RM6.3 billion Penang Undersea Tunnel project, according to a source.
"He (Lim) will be charged under Section 403 of the Penal Code for criminal misappropriation of property," the source, who wished to remain anonymous, told Malaysiakini.
Section 403 states that whoever dishonestly misappropriates, or converts to his own use, or causes any other person to dispose of, any property, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term not less than six months and not more than five years, as well as whipping, and shall also be liable to a fine.
Previously, the DAP secretary-general was charged over the undersea tunnel project on Aug 7 and 10 at the Kuala Lumpur and Butterworth Sessions Courts respectively.
On Aug 11 at the Butterworth Sessions Court, Lim and businessperson Phang Li Koon claimed trial to graft charges, while Lim's wife Betty Chew was charged with money laundering.
In 2018, Lim was acquitted of two graft charges over the alleged conversion of state land status and purchase of a bungalow below market value, while Phang was acquitted of abetting Lim in obtaining the bungalow at the undervalued cost. - Mkini
