Amanah vice-president Mahfuz Omar said he was not surprised with the remarks made by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang who branded Amanah as anak derhaka (disobedient child).
According to Mahfuz (above), such an attitude has been somewhat synonymous with PAS leadership who often likes to label others.
However, he added, Hadi was wrong to say that Amanah was being a disobedient child. Instead, it was PAS that caused the splinter party to be formed.
"PAS is like parents who have a gambling habit, who when they lose, would sell their own children as prostitutes.
"As their children, we were not being disobedient. We were only running away to save ourselves from being prostituted," he told Malaysiakini when contacted today.
The Pokok Sena MP was responding to Hadi's statement where the latter branded Amanah as anak derhaka because it continued to work with DAP.
For the record, Amanah was formed in 2015 by former PAS leaders who were not aligned with the party's top leadership.
The remarks by Hadi, who is Marang MP, came about when he was commenting about a video clip which shows a Putatan Warisan division leader saying that Amanah is like a child to PAS.
In the video clip which had gone viral, Izzatul Aini Nissanso had told PAS members there to vote for Amanah member Rosly Wasli, who is contesting the Tanjung Keramat seat in the ongoing Sabah state election.
Mahfuz also claimed that Amanah was formed by former PAS leaders who managed to detect the party's plan to work together with Umno, which it had been fighting against over the years.
Thus, he added, the decision was made to run away from PAS before the latter sell themselves to Umno.
"We are not disobedient children, but we ran away as we could sniff our parents' action beforehand. This has nothing to do with DAP," he said. - Mkini
