Met Dept: Wet spell expected in Sandakan, Kudat and west coast districts on Sabah’s polling day

KOTA KINABALU: Voters in Sabah’s west coast, the interior division, Sandakan and Kudat districts may want to bring along an umbrella when they go out to cast their ballots for the state’s 16th election on Saturday (Sept 26).

State Meteorological Department director Amirzudi Hashim said the wet spell has been forecast in the morning of polling day at several areas in the locations mentioned.

“In the afternoon, the west coast, interior and Sandakan are expected to experience thunderstorms while other parts of the state will get some rain in isolated areas.

“At night, the downpour may continue at some parts of the west coast, interior and Sandakan. However, it will be dry for the rest of Sabah,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Sept 24).

He said it was not possible to predict if any flash floods will happen on that day.

The state capital and surrounding areas have been experiencing intermittent rains since early this week, with some water levels rising at urban and suburban areas, but no major flooding was reported. - Star
