Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has announced the second round of Bantuan Prihatin Nasional aid for B40 and M40 households and singles.
The payments will be split into two tranches with the first payment at the end of October and the second payment in January 2021.
In a speech broadcast live today, Muhyiddin said B40 households will receive RM1,000 in total while M40 households will receive RM600.
As for singles, those in the B40 will get RM500 and those in M40 will get RM300.
Meanwhile, Muhyiddin also announced a continuation of wage subsidies for companies that have yet to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The subsidy of RM600 per employee for up to 200 workers, will be available for three months.
Companies must be earning 30 percent less than what they were earning last year to qualify.
The government will also reopen applications for the Prihatin special grant for micro traders, with payouts expected to be made on Nov 25.
The new incentives will cost the government RM10 million in total, Muhyiddin said.
"The announcements I made today show that the Perikatan Nasional government listens to you, ladies and gentlemen.
"We are trying our best to help people face this difficult period," he added.
The prime minister's speech came hours after PKR president Anwar Ibrahim claimed to have the majority to form a new government.
Muhyiddin called on the people to reject those who would cause political instability.- Mkini
