Najib mocks Warisan over manifesto promises

Najib Razak said among Warisan’s unfulfilled pledges was the promise to scrap the Kaiduan dam project.
PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Najib Razak today chided Warisan after the party’s president Shafie Apdal asked how Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) was going to fulfil its “Aku Janji” manifesto.
Najib said aside from Pakatan Harapan (PH)’s manifesto, Warisan’s manifesto for the 2018 elections had also been cast aside.
“Warisan promised that the Sabah chief minister could not hold the finance minister’s post, but (Shafie) appointed himself as Sabah finance minister a month after becoming chief minister.
“Warisan promised to limit the chief minister’s post to two terms. This promise was not kept at all, in fact, the two-term limit for the governor was done away with by Warisan.
“Warisan promised to return the 20% oil royalties and 50% (of tax revenue). Where is it?” he asked in a Facebook post today, continuing to list other unfulfilled promises by Warisan.
He also mentioned Warisan’s promise to give 33% of the PH government’s annual development budget to East Malaysia and to cancel the Kaiduan dam project.
Najib added that Sabah’s economy was the worst among other states for two years in a row under Warisan, while many Sabahans had lost their jobs, despite the party promising the opposite.
GRS, which comprises Barisan Nasional (BN), Perikatan Nasional and PBS, launched its “Aku Janji” manifesto today, with Sabah BN chairman Bung Moktar Radin promising that the alliance would fulfil its promises if it won in the state polls.
Shafie had reportedly questioned how GRS could fulfil its manifesto promises, citing the alliance’s disunity. - FMT
