Pakatan Harapan chief secretary Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that Umno president Zahid Hamidi's media statement confirmed that Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has lost his majority in Parliament.
Saifuddin (above) was commenting on Zahid's statement earlier today which revealed that many of Umno and BN MPs support PKR president Anwar Ibrahim to form a new government.
He said this means that Muhyiddin would definitely have lost his majority since the prime minister only had slim support of 113 out of 222 MPs in Parliament.
"His words are very specific. He confirmed that many Umno and BN parliamentarians back Anwar. And he does not stop them from doing so," Saifuddin told Malaysiakini.
Zahid, in his statement today, said that Umno cannot stop its MPs from throwing their support behind Anwar, who plans to meet the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to present his numbers soon.
For the record, Anwar had earlier in the afternoon made an announcement that he has got the backing of enough Dewan Rakyat representatives to form a government.
These purportedly include MPs from BN, which is led by Umno, which has 39 seats.
