Lim, Annuar trade barbs over ‘lalang in your backyard’

 

Lim Guan Eng says Annuar Musa should not drag DAP into his problems with Umno colleagues.

GEORGE TOWN: Umno’s Annuar Musa today told DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to “check your own backyard for overgrown grass”, after Lim attacked him over a claim that the two parties are cooperating to form a new government.

However, in an immediate response to Annuar’s tweet alluding to a lalang mentality, Lim said the former Barisan Nasional secretary-general was “peddling fairy tales” and had a “forked tongue”.

“Is he talking about the grass near the Umno building or at the back of his house? You take care of your own backyard and we will take care of our own,” Lim said at a press conference at the DAP state headquarters here.

Yesterday, Annuar had said Umno’s big guns had attended “several meetings” in preparing to work with DAP.

Lim then labelled Annuar as “dishonest” for dragging DAP into his own fight for political survival in Umno. He denied any talks with Umno on political cooperation with the DAP.

Today, repeating his vitriol against Annuar, Lim challenged the federal territories minister to deny speaking to him over a proposed meeting with Kuala Lumpur Pakatan Harapan MPs to discuss matters related to Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

Lim said in reality, he had spoken to Annuar more than Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Najib Razak combined, so as to get him to meet the MPs.

However, he said, Annuar failed to honour his commitment to meet them, “which only goes to show that he is unreliable”. - FMT
