IPOH: Malim Nawar assemblyman Leong Cheok Keng (pic) has signed two letters, including a statutory declaration (SD) that he will not quit the party and would serve his full term, says Perak DAP Youth secretary Teoh Yee Chern.
“He has signed an agreement that stated that anyone chosen to contest in the 14th general election will remain a DAP state assemblyman," said Teoh.
Teoh added at a press conference on Sunday (Jan 10) that anyone who leaves the party while still an assemblyman would have to quit their seat.
The Astaka assemblyman said that Leong's heart was no longer with the party and added that he should just quit.
“To my knowledge, he has not tendered his resignation letter. He should make things clearer and no drag the matter longer, ” he added.
Leong has neither confirmed nor denied rumours of him leaving DAP and joining MCA, but has been issued a show-cause letter by the party.
When contacted, Leong simply replied saying "I don't have to reply to (Teoh's) hypothetical question." - Star
