Mandatory quarantine for all teachers entering Sarawak

Teachers entering Sarawak must undergo 14 days’ quarantine before they can return to their schools.

KUCHING: All teachers from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Labuan must undergo mandatory quarantine at designated quarantine centres upon entering Sarawak, disaster management chairman Douglas Uggah Embas said today.

The teachers must also undergo swab tests on the second and eighth days of their quarantine, before they are allowed to return to their respective schools.

“They need to undergo 10 days quarantine at the designated centres and continue the remaining four days at home. Those teaching in the rural areas must complete two-week quarantine at the centre,” he told reporters today.

Uggah said Covid-19 active case detection has been carried out at two longhouses, Rumah Sungai Putong, Ulu Undop, and Rumah Bui Panjai, Lubok Antu, which had been put in lockdown.

“We have deployed enforcement agencies to be stationed there and ensure that no one enters or leaves the affected areas,” he said, adding the welfare department had sent food items to the longhouses .

Sarawak reported a total 14 cases today, including five imported cases, bringing the total Covid-19 cases in the state to 1,180, including 19 deaths. - FMT
