Umno's annual general assembly (AGM) will be held online if the movement control order (MCO) and emergency proclamation are still enforced, according to party secretary-general Ahmad Maslan.
However, Ahmad said the new date to hold the gathering of Umno delegates has yet to be determined.
"The supreme council and management meeting will decide the new date to hold the Umno AGM.
"If the MCO and emergency are still in place, we will do it online.
"Umno will forge ahead for Malaysians no matter how big the challenge. Our struggle will continue," the Pontian MP tweeted today.
Umno had previously postponed their gathering, originally scheduled for this weekend at PWTC, to an undetermined date.
The session was to be held amid a backdrop of strained ties between Umno and Bersatu, with a majority of party grassroots approving a motion to cut ties with the Perikatan Nasional party.
The motion was approved by the Umno supreme council but a final decision must be endorsed by delegates at the general assembly.
This year's session could also be the last Umno major meeting before the 15th general election, with leaders including from their own ranks urging Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to call for snap polls. - Mkini
