Amanah president Mohamad Sabu said his party will continue to make more friends from opposition parties under the "big tent" concept to go up against BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) as their common enemy.
Mohamad, fondly known as Mat Sabu, said uniting the opposition is necessary for Amanah to perform its duties to the people by working towards victory in the 15th general election.
"For those who have decided that GE15 will be a loss, efforts such as these will certainly be deemed unnecessary.
"The effort it takes to lose is a lot easier than fighting to win," said Mohamad in a statement today.
Mohamad had earlier said he is open to meeting any party interested in cooperating during GE15, including Bersatu.
However, he noted that Bersatu is a government ally, unlike Pejuang which is aligned to Harapan in Parliament.
Last week, Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar said Pakatan Harapan should expect to lose another two general elections before having a chance at winning.
In an interview with Sinar Harian, Nurul Izzah said it would take time to craft a new "product" for the public, especially those who are unhappy with Harapan's short stint in Putrajaya.
Mohamad said while Amanah noted various opinions on the "big tent" strategy for Harapan to face GE15, any meaningful discussion would require understanding that it does not involve Umno, Bersatu or PAS as parties in government.
"It would be impossible for Harapan to work with traitors who have clearly betrayed the people's trust and mandate.
"It must be stressed that the traitors are those who 'jumped' to be with Bersatu and PN due to offers made at the time.
"Just as it is unreasonable for us to perceive PKR as a treacherous party because its deputy president and MPs had defected, it is also unreasonable for us to label Pejuang, Warisan and Muda as traitors because of Muhyiddin and Bersatu's actions," added Mohamad.
Prior to the Johor state election, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim had called for a united opposition front, although Warisan and Pejuang ultimately fielded their own line-ups and suffered a major loss.
PKR also continued the party's losing streak by only winning one out of 20 seats in Johor, and Harapan ended up with 12 out of 56 seats. - Mkini
