No foul play in Baby Adam’s death, say police

Bukit Aman says the post-mortem report confirmed that Baby Adam died due to pneumonia. (Bernama pic)

PETALING JAYA: There was no criminal element in the death of Baby Adam at the Rumah Bonda care centre two years ago, police said.

Bukit Aman sexual, women and child investigations division (D11) principal assistant director Siti Kamsiah Hassan confirmed this to FMT today.

This comes after Skudai assemblyman Marina Ibrahim raised questions surrounding Adam’s death and alleged that the care centre’s founder had refused a post-mortem on the baby.

“The Baby Adam case was investigated as a sudden death. The post-mortem report confirmed that there was no criminal element and the Down Syndrome baby died due to pneumonia,” Siti Kamsiah said.

Rumah Bonda founder Siti Bainun Ahd Razali is on trial for allegedly abusing and neglecting a Down Syndrome teenager last year.

The ongoing trial has been receiving wide attention.

Adam, whose real name is Adam Rizqi Abdul Azim, died when he was only 10 months old in 2020.

Certain parties had claimed that Adam was healthy and plump when he was sent to Rumah Bonda but appeared skinny when he died, raising concerns about his condition when he was at the care centre.

Meanwhile, Wangsa Maju district police chief Ashari Abu Samah told FMT police would study the post-mortem report so that they could allay the people’s concerns over the baby’s death. - FMT
