PETALING JAYA: The organiser of a blood-donation drive in Johor has apologised for handing out pork-flavoured instant noodles in gift packs to donors, describing it as an oversight on their part.
The organising committee chairman for the event Lou Kok Meng said they would take full responsibility, Harian Metro reported.
“We take note of the matter and we are prepared to cooperate with the authorities probing the incident.
“A representative has met with the administrative department of the Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail to provide an explanation,” Lou was quoted as saying.
Lou added that all they could do for now was to offer an apology, especially to the blood donors.
Yesterday, Batu Pahat police chief Ismail Dollah said they received a report lodged by the health ministry on the matter.
He said gift packs were handed out to those who had donated blood.
“Some of the recipients were Muslims and they discovered that the instant noodles were pork-flavoured.” - FMT
