PETALING JAYA: Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor has called on the authorities to thoroughly probe the syndicate forging identification cards in Sabah with alleged links to the president of a political party.

Hajiji said the state government was very concerned about this development and wanted the suspects to be severely punished if it was true that they were involved with the syndicate.

Earlier, home minister Hamzah Zainudin said Arshad Abdul, the president of Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah (PPRS), had been arrested on June 22 for allegedly heading the syndicate.

Police also arrested Amkah Ahmad, who is alleged to be Arshad’s accomplice. They pleaded not guilty after being charged at the Petaling Jaya magistrates’ court this morning under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
