PUTRAJAYA: The Prime Minister has not decided if he will table Budget 2023, but for now it will be tabled by the Finance Minister.
Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Federal Constitution will have to be referred to determine if the Prime Minister can table the Budget.
"We shall wait for the Attorney General to advise.
"If it is permitted, we can consider it. Whatever it is, we will wait for the advice.
"I cannot table it if it is against the law," he told reporters after addressing civil servants at the annual meet on Tuesday (Aug 30).
Media reports quoted Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as claiming that Budget 2023 will be tabled by the Prime Minister.
He claimed that he was informed of the matter by "friends in the Cabinet".
Budget 2023 will be tabled on Oct 7. - Star
