PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) will defend the seats they won in the 14th general election (GE14) in the upcoming state polls.
PH secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the consensus was reached when the two coalitions met recently, Bernama reported.
“The first round of discussions had been completed and we agreed to include several parameters involving seat allocations.
“Among others, it was agreed that the winning parties in GE14 will retain the seats (for their candidates),” he was quoted as saying.
Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan and Terengganu are expected to dissolve their state assemblies in June to pave the way for the polls.
Saifuddin said that seat negotiations between PH and BN had begun in Kedah and Selangor.
Seat negotiations for Penang and Negeri Sembilan have yet to start although it is expected to take place soon, he said. - FMT
