Following a short hiatus from the political arena, former Ketereh MP Annuar Musa revealed that he would be choosing and joining “the right party” when he makes a comeback after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
However, he refused to divulge details about the political party of his choice.
Annuar was quoted as saying today by Sinar Harian that he will be focusing on harmony and “better direction”.
“Whichever party, we will see in a day or two. In the spirit of Aidilftiri, let’s try to lessen political (talks) and focus on celebrating Hari Raya,” he said when met at Kelantan PAS’ Aidifitri open house at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium today.
Also present were Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob and PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.
Annuar’s appearance at the Islamist party’s Raya-do had set tongues wagging.
Just fulfilling invitation
However, the former Umno secretary-general reportedly said that he was merely fulfilling the invitation extended by the Kelantan state government.
"We are all friends, so we can be together this festive season. This is not the first time I have attended (such events), I also attended the one in Pengkalan Chepa last year.
"I go to all the Aidilfitri events and yesterday, (I was) at the Ketereh MP’s (Khlir Mohd Nor) home.”
The former minister also stressed that he had never retired from politics, saying he merely took a break for a few months.
“I just got sacked from Umno. I have been active, it’s just that I took the opportunity to focus on personal matters and didn’t speak much in the past two to three months.
“I have not retired and God willing, I will be active again after this.”
Asked if he will be attending Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s Aidilfitri open house which will be held in Kelantan on May 12, Annuar said he has not received an invitation thus far.
“I will attend if there is an invitation and have the time,” he said.
Previously, Malaysiakini reported that Annuar is poised to join PAS to further his political career after the 15th general election.
The Muafakat Nasional NGO president had filled out the PAS membership form and the announcement is expected to be made after Aidilfitri, according to sources.
Annuar was sacked from Umno last December after previously having been removed from his position as BN secretary-general as he was deemed "being too close to Bersatu". - Mkini
