PETALING JAYA: Former deputy prime minister Musa Hitam is recovering from a brain surgery after spending his 89th birthday on the operating table.
Former CIMB Group chairman Nazir Razak had posted a picture on Instagram of him visiting Musa in hospital with AirAsia chief Tony Fernandes.
“Visited Tun Musa Hitam in hospital today. He had a very bad fall while gardening a week ago and needed surgery to his brain. He spent his 89th birthday on the operating table.
“By all accounts his recovery process has been miraculous so far. His wicked sense of humour is back already! Let’s all pray for his complete recovery – back to golf and all,” said Nazir.
It was understood that Musa fell unconscious following his fall while gardening on April 18.
An ambulance rushed him to the hospital where he was operated on for around two hours.
Musa, who is also the World Islamic Economic Forum chairman, has been discharged from the intensive care unit but remains in hospital.
Musa, who was also Sime Darby chairman, served as the country’s fifth deputy prime minister from 1981 to 1986 during Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s first tenure as prime minister. - FMT
