PETALING JAYA: A CEO of a government agency has been remanded for allegedly accepting bribes amounting to RM600,000.

Also remanded were two others who had allegedly paid the sum.

A Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) source said the alleged kickbacks were to ensure that a certain company won a RM15 million tender to upgrade the mechanical and electrical systems of a building on Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.

The source said the trio, aged between 30 and 54, were arrested when they gave their statements at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya last night.

The magistrates’ court in Putrajaya issued a four-day remand for the trio from today to April 10 to facilitate the investigation.

When contacted, MACC’s special operations senior director Tan Kang Sai confirmed the arrests under Section 17a of the MACC Act 2009 for receiving bribes. - FMT
