The MACC has nabbed a second officer linked to Human Resources Minister V Sivakumar in connection with its graft probe on migrant worker approvals.
When contacted, MACC chief Azam Baki confirmed the arrest and remand of Sivakumar’s private secretary.
“Remanded, but I’m not sure how many days,” Azam told Malaysiakini.
The woman’s arrest came a day after MACC nabbed Sivakumar’s senior officer at the ministry building in Putrajaya.
Meanwhile, Utusan Malaysia quoted sources as saying the woman was arrested at 2.30am and has since been remanded for four days.
“The suspect will be remanded until Monday to assist in ongoing investigations,” the source reportedly said.
Yesterday, the MACC also arrested a businessperson from Ipoh, Perak, believed to be linked to a recruitment agency.
Malaysiakini understands MACC’s probe is also focused on other individuals within the ministry as well as its agencies.
Sivakumar has so far declined comments beyond pledging his full cooperation to the investigation by the authorities, which is believed to be regarding a RM97 million graft case. - Mkini
