KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on Muslims to commemorate the Nuzul al-Quran event by intensifying Quran recitation to express their gratitude for Allah's miracle, which has become a source of strength and success for the people.
Through a Facebook post in conjunction with Nuzul al-Quran to be celebrated tomorrow, he said the Holy Book which was revealed in the month of Ramadan is loaded with messages and guidance that 'straighten the difference between what is right and wrong'.
"May this greatest miracle intercede for all of us in the afterlife, InsyaAllah," he said.
Anwar said other than the revelation of the Quran, other major events that occurred in Ramadan such as the Battle of Badr in the second year of the Hijrah and the opening of the city of Mekah in the eighth year of the Hijrah underscore the significance of these events in the propagation of dakwah (Islamic preaching) by the Prophet Muhammad.
Nuzul al-Quran refers to the event where the first recitation of the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad on Friday night, 17 Ramadan at the Hira Cave, Makkah on his 41st birthday.– BERNAMA
