Penang police chief Shuhaily Mohd Zain will take charge of the Kuala Lumpur police as their new head, said Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
It was reported that the decision was made during a Police Force Commission meeting on Friday.
Shuhaily’s appointment was among several changes made to key posts, Saifuddin explained.
This comes after the Kuala Lumpur top cop post was left vacant following Azmi Abu Kassim’s promotion to lead the Bukit Aman Management Department.
“Therefore, the commission decided that Shuhaily should fill the post.
“The Royal Malaysian Police Secretariat will make further announcements involving the change of several state police chief positions soon,” Saifuddin was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.
Other appointments to be announced in the near future will include the post of Bukit Aman’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director which Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay previously held.
On March 28, Ayob was appointed as Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department director effective April 16. - Mkini
