GEORGE TOWN: The Federation of Malaysian Indian Muslim Associations (Permim) has condemned the tactless actions of the Israeli police, who attacked and used violence against the Palestinian people and the pilgrims inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque yesterday.
Permim president Shaik Faridhudheen Anverdeen said the inhumane attack had resulted in injuries to civilians.
"The action of the Israeli police, who invaded the Al-Aqsa Mosque, is an insolent act and a violation of human rights," he said today.
Shaik Faridhudheen said the United Nations (UN) has just turned a blind eye, when every day in the month of Ramadan, there would be attacks like this when the Palestinian people performed worship.
"Permim calls on the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to urge the UN to take action against Israel," he added.
He said Permim also welcomed the efforts of the state Islamic Religious Departments to hold prayers and recite Qunut Nazilah to pray for the safety and well-being of the Palestinian people.
Reuters reported that Israeli police clashed with Palestinians at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque, a second time today.
The confrontations, during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and on the eve of the Jewish Passover holiday, triggered a cross-border exchange of fire in Gaza and stoked fears of further violence. - NST
