PN names three MPs to negotiate on opposition allocations

Perikatan Nasional has named three of their parliamentarians to hold negotiations immediately with Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof regarding allocations for the opposition.

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the three consist of opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin, Kota Bharu MP Takiyuddin Hassan and Putrajaya MP Mohd Radzi Jidin.

“He (Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim) said the allocation is already there, so we want it to be proven.

“Negotiations will be carried out in the near future, but we do not know the actual allocation amount.

“However, the prime minister announced that he would give (us) the same amount as government parliamentarians,” Tuan Ibrahim said.

He added that PN will first monitor the developments of the negotiations and the conditions that will be imposed.

The former minister said this in a press conference after delivering aid to the needy in Kota Bharu last night.

Anwar was previously reported to have reiterated the government’s willingness to provide the same amount of allocation regardless of whether the lawmaker is in the government or the opposition bloc.

However, the prime minister said the process needs to start with a negotiation process involving both parties to determine the approved parameters.

Tuan Ibrahim, who is also the Kubang Kerian MP, said PN really hoped the allocation would be channelled immediately, especially to help the rakyat during this Ramadan and before Aidilfitri.

“I expect the negotiations to happen only once and that’s it. Let’s see what happens later.

“What we were told by the prime minister is that we will be given the same amount as the government (parliamentarians).

“If it is around RM800,000, it is much lower than when PN was ruling,” he said. - Mkini
