KOTA KINABALU: Three locations in Sabah have been selected for the Rahmah Ramadan bazaar initiative, says state Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry director Georgie Abas.
Georgie said the locations were Lintasan Deasoka (Kota Kinabalu), opposite Sabindo Plaza (Tawau) and Juara Sport Arena Ketiau (Putatan).
"The initiative is the government's latest effort to reduce the cost of living for the people by providing a choice of meals for breaking of fast at a low and affordable price," he said in a statement Sunday (April 3).
He said traders were also encouraged to provide balanced food products based on the Rahmah Menu to visitors heading to the Ramadan bazaars this year.
He said the initiative was implemented in collaboration with local authorities and the private sector without the government incurring any cost.
At the same time, Georgie said that the state ministry had worked out a strategic deal with the ewallet service providers (Touch ‘n Go and Boost) to offer ecash incentives to 6,000 users in the form of ewallets worth RM20 for 1,000 early visitors at each bazaar on selected dates.
For ewallet users at Lintasan Deasoka - Touch ‘n Go users will benefit on April 1 and 2, while Boost users will benefit on April 8 and 9, and also April 15 and 16.
The Juara Sport Arena Ketiau will be from April 8-9 for Boost users while Tawau Boost users will benefit on April 1 and 2, as well as April 15 and 16.
He said the initiative would also help expand the Digitisation Initiative Programme-Retail Sector (Retail Digitisation Initiative - ReDI) which aims to ensure that small traders are not left behind in the mainstream and engage them through new business models digitally. - Star
