Solicitor-General II Almalena Sharmila Johan has been appointed as the new solicitor-general effective Oct 2.
Attorney-General Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh said Suzana Atan has, meanwhile, been appointed as Solicitor-General II replacing Almalena, also effective Oct 2.
“The appointments are in line with the Directive on the Transfer of Legal Officers No 107 and 108/2023. All members of the Attorney-General’s Chambers congratulate this appointment,” Terrirudin said in a statement today.
Almalena (above), who was previously Head of the Advisory Division of the Attorney-General’s Department, was appointed as solicitor-general to replace Terrirudin, who officially began his duties as attorney-general on Sept 6.
Before this, Almalena, who represented the Attorney-General’s Department, joined Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Azalina Othman Said and Malaysia’s ambassador to Spain Akmal Che Mustafa on a trip to Madrid, Spain to handle the Sulu claimants’ dispute.
Suzana, meanwhile, was the senior federal counsel who handled civil cases and election petitions.
