PETALING JAYA
Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Ramli Nor has lodged a police report following an allegedly defamatory video against him on social media.

The Cameron Highlands MP said the report was lodged at the Sentul police station in response to a video uploaded by @apong606 on TikTok which was

baseless, irresponsible and has elements of incitement
.

The video alleged that Ramli, who is the country’s sole Orang Asli MP, was corrupt and did not want to support the Orang Asli community.

This statement is disgraceful and tarnishes my image as the sole MP representing the Orang Asli community,
 he said in a statement.

“I hope the authorities can investigate this and take appropriate action.

I remind the public, especially the Orang Asli community, not to spread slander on social media,
 he added.

Ramli said the report was lodged under Section 499 of the Penal Code for criminal defamation, Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace, and Section 505(c) of the Penal Code for making a statement with intent to incite hatred.

He also said he plans to file a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities.

He also planned to file a defamation suit for RM1 million against those responsible once they had been identified. - FMT
