KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded statements from two US tourists who distributed leaflets on Christianity in front of a supermarket in Desa Setapak here.
Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Azry Akmar Ayob said the duo, both in their 30s, are believed to have entered the country before Dec 25.
“We have also recorded a statement from the complainant in this incident,” he said at a press conference here today.
Azry said police are still investigating the case under Section 298A of the Penal Code for causing disharmony on religious grounds.
Yesterday, Wangsa Maju police chief Lazim Ismail said police were looking for three people alleged to have been distributing the leaflets.
He said a report was filed on Monday after the incident was captured in a video recording that went viral.
A man recording the incident can be heard confronting two men dressed in white shirts and ties, telling them: “You cannot do this. This is wrong. Totally wrong. This is not allowed in Malaysia.” - FMT
