PETALING JAYA: The Kelana Jaya LRT line’s KLCC station has been temporarily closed following a switchbox fire.
RapidKL announced that trains will not stop at the station. The fire and rescue department said the fire was reported at 4.15pm.
“The fire was put out by KLCC’s emergency response team before firefighters arrived on the scene. The team had used carbon dioxide-type fire extinguishers to put out the fire.
“The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No victims were involved and the situation is under control,” the Kuala Lumpur fire and rescue department said in a statement.
RapidKL advised passengers to take alternative routes to get to KLCC via the Persiaran KLCC and Ampang Park stations on the Putrajaya MRT line.
“Passengers are also advised to use the free shuttle bus service that will be provided or take other alternative modes of transport,” it said in a statement.
Earlier, netizens reported seeing smoke at the KLCC LRT station.
They also reported a firetruck being stationed outside the Avenue K shopping mall, under which the LRT station is located, and that the entrance to the station had been shuttered. - FMT
