The education ministry says 6,717 top scorers will receive automatic offers regardless of race and background.

The ministry said it would extend offers to all 6,717 candidates who obtained 10As and above for the 2026/2027 matriculation session.
“This automatic offer is given to all candidates who apply to the matriculation programme without taking into account race and background,” it said in a statement.
The ministry also stressed that the existing quota would remain unchanged.
“At the same time, the 90% Bumiputera quota for admission into the matriculation programme remains and is not affected,” it said.
Yesterday, DAP urged the government to honour its commitment to ensure that all SPM students who obtained 10As or more are granted automatic placement in matriculation programmes.
DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook also called for other high-performing students to be considered based on available capacity.
Matriculation is a pre-university programme offered by the government as an alternative to STPM, with a longstanding 90% Bumiputera quota and 10% allocation for non-Bumiputera students.
In 2024, the government decided that all SPM students who scored 10As or higher would be guaranteed placement, with the policy later expanded to include those who obtained an A-. - FMT
