The remains of former transport minister and MCA honorary life president, Ling Liong Sik, were cremated at the Xiao En Memorial Park crematorium in Nilai, Seremban, today.
The van carrying his remains arrived at the crematorium at 12.18pm.
The nearly hour-long ceremony was held in a sombre atmosphere, attended by family members and close associates, including MCA president Wee Ka Siong.
Attendees paid their last respects by laying floral tributes.
Ling died at 82 last Saturday. He is survived by his wife, Ong Ee Nah, and their two sons, Ling Hee Leong and Ling Hee Keat.
The former MCA president was among the longest-serving cabinet members, having helmed the Transport Ministry for 17 years from 1986 until his resignation in 2003.
